Last week, I had some interest from a NY publisher. This week, a blind query letter yielded a request for more! I queried Maria Caravainis Agency because she is the agent for two of my favorite authors: Sandra Brown and P.J. Parrish. In a speedy reply, Literary Associate Elizabeth Copps requested 100 pages of my story. I just finished a professional-looking cover letter, title page and 100 pages printed as cleanly as possible. No smudges, no crumpled edges, address label looks great. I’m doing everything I can to present myself as business-like as possible. The envelope should arrive well before her return to the office after the holiday break. I stopped short of sending reference letters from employers/editors with which I have worked. That just seemed a bit too needy.
Wish me luck!
